What I’d like to know is will we be racing outside in Traverse City in August? 🤔

I would like to bring a concern to the Ironman community. There will be an Ironman held on August 20th this year which I'm sure under normal circumstances would be an incredible event. Due to COVID-19, my pregnant wife and I are unable to attend and participate in the event for multiple reasons. First, we do not feel comfortable being in close quarters next to untested athletes. Second, we are not comfortable with the accommodations due to the unknown sanitary standards. Third, the Ironman organization has done little to provide insight into how they will be mitigating risk at the event. The reason I bring this to your attention is because they are not offering athletes a refund if they are concerned with the current COVID pandemic. Although I have offered a doctor's note stating that I should not expose myself to any situation that could put my wife at heightened risk, they are still referring athletes to a refund policy page that does not take COVID into account. Ironman Organizations shameful quote in response to my request: "I'm aware that your circumstances are extraordinary, but truthfully, there is no fair way for us to ascertain the worth of each individual's story and apply a corresponding valuation." I sent the Ironman response to local traverse city officials and their response to my concern: "Thank you for taking the time to contact us and I agree, it is an egregious position to take from the organizers of the Ironman. We will be bringing this concern to more members of our team and the Ironman organization. We will not support any event that would jeopardize the safety and health of even one person. Thanks again for bringing this to our attention. "

IRONMAN VR7: a distance for everyone!

Run 1.5 km, bike 20 km, and run 5 km this weekend and let's make this the biggest virtual race so far. There's still plenty of time to make an account and register to compete for free!

It's time to level up. Run 5 km, ride 90 km and run 21 km to become an IRONMAN VR5 finisher!
