As many as 1,000 festival-goers attend each year, enjoying free music at this family-oriented event. More than 100 musicians from Northern Michigan’s folk, bluegrass and acoustic music scene will perform at the festival. Folk and acoustic musicians from across northern Michigan and beyond will be playing at seven stages, including those dedicated to “New Folk” and “Kids Music.” In addition to the ‘stages’ spread throughout the ground floor Mercado corridor of Building 50 and Kirkbride Hall, there is also a satellite stage at the Left Foot Charley winery, just west across the parking lot in the Village. Storefronts will be open and performing artists will have CDs for sale at a CD table. <\/p>\n
“This is one of the top events of the year for many local musicians and a way to beat the winter blues” says Adair Correll, co-founder of the Northern Michigan Songwriters in the Round, the singer-songwriter association which hosts the event. “As in the past, we’ve added a number of new acts this year to showcase young talent,” he adds.<\/p>\n
The event is made possible by volunteers and donations, including the musicians. Come have a great time, listen to wonderful music, and celebrate community.<\/p>\n
