Have this be a school contest: each school has a contest amongst its students. The winning idea represents the school’s submission which then gets chosen from the other school’s submissions. Winning idea gets a cherry pie party on their last day of school!

We would not be able to celebrate our wonderful cherries without the farmers who grow them. Thank you to all the farmers in our festival family and beyond for all you do to produce not only cherries but all other fruits (veggies and meats) of your labor.

Happy National Farmers Day! We thank you everyday for all that you do!

From the moment this wonderful basket from Once Upon A Child Traverse City came through our doors our Executive Director had her eye on it but we decided instead of letting her buy it we would give everyone a chance to bid on it!

We are going to have a Facbook LIVE "Bid Against the Executive Director" on Monday October 21st at 11:00am(Bidding will close at 11:15am). Tune into Facebook Live as we will be exploring the Once Upon a Child store and taking your bids via the comments on our stream.

All proceeds from this basket will go to National Cherry Queen Scholarship Program.

Michigan artist William Allen talks about his sculpture "Frog," part of the permanent sculpture collection at Michigan Legacy Art Park.

There are few places on earth with more area where land and water meet than Michigan. Here the bogs and marshes, ponds, lakes, streams and rivers provide a crucible for life.
Bill Allen turned to these precious places when creating his work for the MLAP collection. “I have chosen to sculpt a frog because I believe they represent some of northern Michigan’s most unique and special gifts. They are the harbingers of spring,” with each species adding to the chorus.

Frogs are sensitive creatures. They can warn us well in advance of potential danger to our environment so we can act to preserve this special place. “Finally,” says Allen, “I believe that frogs embody the spirit of transformation and survival we in northern Michigan possess, with their unique progression from tadpole to full-grown frog."

Frog is made of galvanized steel and coated with copper. The copper coating has been painted by Allen with the rich colors of a Michigan frog.
